Building Your Vocabulary Can Make a Big Difference on Your Test. Vocabulary will be tested on the SAT through Sentence Completions and Reading Comprehension. Check out our list of SAT vocabulary for the most commonly tested words. Following our proven technique to score well on the verbal section.
Vocabulary Strategy:

1. Keep two journals for your vocabulary word.
2. First, write down a list of words in the first journal. Create a mnemonic for each word to help you remember the word. A mnemonic is any word or learning aid that helps you remember the word.  Ex: Capacious- A great amount. Think: Cap is Spacious; wwww.mnemonicdictionary.com has a large database of useful SAT word mnemonics.
3. Write down the words in the second journal. Don’t fill in the definition
4. Take a break
5. Come back to journal the next day, and fill in the definitions for the words that you know. Recalling and rewriting the word from memory insures that you really know the word.
